Introduction and Learning Objective

In this image Pre K teachers will learn about classroom management during carpet time. My final project will be about classroom management and this will be one part of that project.

Learning Objective: After viewing the classroom management website, teachers will assess their classroom management using an assessment rubric.

Design Elements

Contrast

I believe the contrast of the white background and the child has the effect of bringing focus to the center of the picture. It is a very busy picture but it needed that to make the point between the calm child and the motion of the pictures along the bottom. The colors of the pictures and the background also help the words and pictures pop out of the page.

Repetition

The repetition of the pictures alone the bottom of the page create movement. The rotation of the pictures also adds to the movement effect. I was wanting the pictures to create the effect of rolling over as the children were doing. The repetition of text also helps the eye move across the page. My one concern is that it is too busy.

Alignment

I have attempted to align the text and tried to create a balance on both sides. I did not align the colored shapes or the pictures along the bottom on purpose. They are not even on either end and they are not level or straight. I am attempting to give the effect of rolling. I have also tried to create the focus on the center of the picture showing the viewer what the goal should look like.

Proximity

The proximity of text helps to encircle the main picture in the middle. Items are close but with enough room to allow the eye to move freely from text to picture. The pictures along the bottom are close together and even overlapping. This gives the feeling of being crowded and out of control.

Reflection

I have found after working with Photoshop I am not as scared to try new things. In the beginning I was very frustrated with the program even after watching the videos. I am grateful for having two of my children that are wonderful teachers. They would talk me through things step by step for some of the basics, then let me experiment and help me  when I got stuck. I now can create things and actually have fun playing with the different effects. I also found the design elements useful when I was trying to decide where to place things.

Now that I have gotten a good start I can see how using Photoshop could be very useful when creating things for teaching, business, or personal projects.
