We all have those moments when a parent wants to talk to us and our mind goes blank as to what to say. We all need to use the same language for certain times as well. Please use the following phrases so we can be united in our center.

What to say when a..........


- Parent and child enter the room in the morning.

"Good morning! I'm glad you are here today. (Make eye contact and go over and greet the child and parent. Even if you are busy)

- Parent comes to pick up their child.

"Your child has had a great day today. (even if they didn't. name something they did well. If you need to make a request for extra clothes or to sign something add another great thing their child did that day. More positives than negatives)

- Parent is asking about children in the room or another staff member.

"I'm sorry, I am not able to share that information with you."

- Parent is upset about something.

"I can see that you are upset. I will have Mrs. Murray contact you."
